The “lifeline” of Angel Tree

For two years in prison Steve didn’t have any contact with his children, Helena and Johnny. “I had forgotten what they looked like,” he says. “It was a peculiar emotion.”

Steve felt the isolation of separation deeply. He worried a great deal about how his family were coping.

“I tried to do as much as I could for other people in prison. But you can’t do much for your own family. They are left to fend for themselves. I felt I was punishing my family. Yes, punish me. But I felt my children were being punished too.”

When the prison Chaplain told Steve about Angel Tree, it was like a “Lifeline”.

“Last Christmas, Angel Tree came at just the right time. I was due for release, and it paved the way for me to re-establish a bond with my kids,” Steve confirms.

A donation to Angel Tree will help us ensure even more families re-establish a bond this Christmas.

DONATE NOW TO ANGEL TREE

Angel Tree helps builds a connection for thousands of children and their mum or dad in prison. This year has been incredibly difficult for families. Covid-19 has caused prison visits come to a complete stop, and prisoners and their families have suffered enormously.

A present for a child from their parent in prison could be the only reminder that child has that their mum or dad hasn’t forgotten them.

“The Angel Tree present for my kids was a reminder that I still loved them. The gifts were important, but the most important thing was the handwritten gift tag. I could write whatever I wanted on there. It meant there was a real connection!”

Please, bring peace of mind, hope and joy to families impacted by parental imprisonment by donating now to Angel Tree.

Donate between midday on Tuesday 1st December and the end of the year, or until the matched funding target has been reached, and your contribution will be automatically doubled .

Thank you for your support. Children impacted by parentally imprisonment are often considered the hidden victims of crime because they are without their parent who cares for them. A Christmas present through Angel Tree could make a child’s Christmas, showing them that they are still loved and cared for and not forgotten.

Thank you for praying for Angel Tree, and for all your support for Prison Fellowship. We wouldn’t be here without our volunteers and supporters, so we want to say how much you mean to us.
