Olive Tree is a new restoration and healing course, built over 45 years of listening to chaplains, tutors and—most importantly—the people we serve in every prison in England and Wales. It takes some of the most demanding, honest material there is: stories of broken relationships, consequence, forgiveness and the hard work of rebuilding. And it invites the people taking part to explore faith, reflect on the choices before them and begin making positive changes that can shape the future.

This is what purposeful activity looks like when it’s done right. Not just something to fill the hours—but something that changes the direction of a life.

Your gift could provide the workbooks and materials people need to complete the Olive Tree course. It could help train a tutor to lead Olive Tree. And it could open the door to a new prison, funding the volunteer recruitment, training and set-up needed to bring Olive Tree there.

What is Gift Aid?

Gift Aid does not cost you a penny more, but can add an additional 25p to every £1 you donate. When Prison Fellowship receives a donation from a UK taxpayer, we're entitled to claim an amount of tax (calculated at the basic rate of income tax in that year) paid on that donation. Once you have given your permission for us to do this on your behalf, there is no need for you to do anything else.

All that is required is that you must be a taxpayer and that would have paid or will pay sufficient Income and/or Capital Gains Tax to cover all the Gift Aid claimed on all your donations in that tax year. Please note that it is your responsibility to pay any difference.

The amount of tax we claim will be 25% of the total value of your donations in that tax year. Furthermore, if you are a higher taxpayer, you are also entitled to claim the difference between the basic rate which we will claim and the amount of tax you have actually paid. For further details on how you can do this, please contact your tax office. If your tax situation changes and your gifts will no longer be eligible for the Gift Aid scheme please contact us and we will amend your record accordingly.

£5 a month could help fund a PF volunteer’s letters to someone in prison who receives no other post.

£10 a month could help young people in prison send a Mother’s Day gift to their mum—many for the first time in years.

£15 a month could help fund the training of a Pastoral Care volunteer—equipping them to walk alongside someone in prison.

£20 a month could help ensure that anyone in prison who wants to ask for prayer will always find our Prayer Line intercession team ready to pray for them.
